A Permanent Home for a more Inclusive World
Faced with the challenges of rising living costs, displacement, and the need and opportunity to acknowledge and address inequities, we are humbly committed to a path of interstitial inclusivity. We believe the sweet spot for diversity progress is the area between groups, the place where unfamiliarity with the ‘other’ keeps us apart and lacking in trust.
Founded by dancer Rita Rivera in 1993, The 418 Project has been a multi-disciplinary, artist-driven collective and place maker for over 30 years. Dislocated by downtown redevelopment in 2016, The 418 Project gathered community support and purchased our permanent home in 2021 during the Covid pandemic.
